Marta I. Rendon, MD, FAAD, FACP, board-certified dermatologist, founded Skin Care Research as well as the Rendon Center for Dermatology & Aesthetic Medicine in Boca Raton, FL. For over 20 years, she was a clinical associate professor for University of Miami School of Medicine in the Department of Dermatology. At the Cleveland Clinic, Florida, she served as chairperson for the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Rendon was also a clinical associate professor at Florida Atlantic University Department of Biomedical Sciences in Boca Raton, FL, which is an affiliate of the University of Miami School of Medicine.
Dr. Rendon, an experienced healthcare provider for more than 25 years, a respected researcher, and specializing in alpha-hydroxy acids, psoriasis, eczema, and how cosmetics affect the skin. Her special interests included phototherapy (treatment with ultraviolet light), dermatologic conditions resulting from systemic disease, cosmetic dermatology, dermatologic surgery, care of wounds, and laser surgery. She also specialized in the development of treatment options for pigmentary disorders, which are often experienced by dark-skinned patients.
Dr. Rendon received her degree in medicine from the renowned University of Puerto Rico, San Juan . She completed her residency in internal medicine in Philadelphia, at the Albert Einstein Medical Center, and then Dr. Rendon worked with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, completing a complex study on Hansen’s disease at the Carville, LA, training center. Dr. Rendon completed her dermatology residency at the Dallas Parkland Memorial Hospital. She then trained in photobiology and phototherapy at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, and advanced cutaneous surgery and superficial anatomy from the Marshfield Medical Research Foundation, located in Marshfield, WI.
Dr. Rendon founded Skin Care Research, an organization specializing in the development of FDA regulated trials. She and her skilled team have performed stage two, three, and four clinical trials, testing treatments and products for many global brands. Proctor & Gamble appointed Dr. Rendon as the global celebrity dermatologist of the renowned Head & Shoulders educational campaign known as “Love Your Hair, Respect Your Scalp.” She has also been a physician trainer, advisor, and speaker for several respected worldwide brands including Vichy, Unilever, Sirrus Pharmaceutical, Schering, Salu, Pfizer, Ortho Dermatological, Novartis, Procter & Gamble, L’Oreal, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, Janssen, GlaxoSmithKline, Galderma, Allergan, and 3M Pharmaceutical.
In addition to extensive experience and knowledge in dermatologic medicine, Dr. Rendon was bilingual, making her a popular speaker, lecturer, and industry expert. She was often invited to speak at conferences around the world, and she was interviewed by the media regularly. She has appeared on such prestigious broadcasts as the Daily Buzz, Telemundo, and CNN. She was frequently quoted and interviewed, sharing her expertise in publications including ELLE, Allure, Vogue, New Beauty, and Harper’s Bazaar.
An accomplished author, Dr. Rendon wrote many books, chapters for collaborative books, and papers that were published in many respected, peer-reviewed medical journals.
